[Hallicrafters] Fw: SX-101A VS SX-115

Ive had just about all the higher end Halli's including a SX-88 (years
ago). There is no comparison between the SX-101A and SX-115 IMO.

The SX-101 is a drifty version of the NC-300 and not as good as the
NC-303. I dont consider it an adequate SSB receiver unless you enjoy
keeping a hand on the tuning. It would make an interesting companion to
the equally drifty HT-37. Or use it on AM.

The SX-115 is not quite a 75A4 (and a decade + later) but is more than
adequate after a minimum warmup. It is as sensitive as an unmodified 75A4
but not as good as a Drake R4C. Once I got used to the dial I find it a
fine companion to a HT-32B and the pair are used regularly without
embarassment about drift.

Aside from physical appearance and dial frequency readout I'd appreciate
performance comments from those who have had both. I only have room for
one - the other goes.
