[Hallicrafters] SX-73/R-274 Alignment?

Gents,

Just picked up a small pile of boatanchors including an R-274 in very good condition.  It looks stock except for the bandswitch knob, which is common.  The tuning knob and dial lock seem to be intact.  

I have a copy of the SX-73 manual.

Before I dig into this thing, any alignment hints?  Any known "bad" components?  I have aligned a lot of Hallicrafters, but this is the first R-274 I have owned.  It looks like a very well built and well designed receiver.  

Any ideas about using this on SSB?  Does the AGC work on CW?  That's not clear from the manual.  I will be bringing this up very slowly to see what I have.  

Ideas welcome.
