[Hallicrafters] Watch The Clocks, As Time Springs Again!

Open both of those eyes up and listen up guys! Tomorrow, Sunday March 30th
at 2:00 AM, was when the long standing daylight savings time plan was to get
wound up and ticked off. Not anymore! We have the new and even less
explicable system set into motion two years ago. Now comes the fun!

Even though most of us set our keepers of time ahead by one hour back on
March 9th, you may awaken tomorrow with a surprise! So when you stagger out
of bed, check "all" of the time devices, watches, clocks etc. to be sure
they are showing you the correct time. Some of our electronic wonders
automatically advance the time ahead when DST begins and set the time back
one hour when it ends. Since they do this by using a fixed mathmatical
equation that is inalterable by humans, they will set the time ahead for you
at 2:00 AM March 30th, just as they are designed to do! You will need to
fall back one hour, unless you want to be one hour early for everything!

This will apply to almost all computers!

The electronic watches and clocks that keep an ear on WWV will 'not' leap
ahead, as they do not depend on the DST equation that the non-radio time
pieces do.Unless somebody at the National Bureau of Standards, NIST, gets
too much rarified Colorado mountain air and has WWV send out a signal to set
all the listening chronometers to Mars Equatorial Time!

Since the "dial the time" feature of our telephones was banished to the
recycle bin of ... a few years ago because according to their study "none of
us used the service", you can get the correct time by tuning in WWV on
2.500, 5.000, 10.000, 15.000 or 20.000 MHZ. It is given every minute. If you
can not hear WWV for reasons unknown, try CHU in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on
3.330, 7.335 or 14.670 MHZ.

Now go make a note in your favorite Crayola crayon on the calendar for this
November! The first Sunday in November at 2:00 AM is when we must drop back
by one hour, as in Fall back! However, about one week prior to this event,
the old DST system will fall back! So you will then need to set your things
that go tick, or suck the life out of batteries, ahead by one hour for the
week!

Since almost all the computers on the planet are still affected, unless
yours is about one year old, one wonders how much input the companies that
manufacturer computers had to do with this new DST plan? Doubtless they will
peddle a lot of chips!
