Greyhound works, if you don't go beyond their size and weight limits.
If you do have something really heavy, try a commercial carrier line
like Yellow Freight or something similar. You can also Google for a
freight broker in your area and ask them to call you when they have an
independent truck in your area that's going the right way and has some
room. This happens more often than you think.
For any motor freight shipment, use a very sturdy shipping container or
a heavy plywood box and frame and pack the inside assuming there's a
good chance it will be bumped by a forklift or have something equally
heavy stacked or dropped on top of it. (Think thick foam in place
packaging).
