[Hallicrafters] SX-25 vent "fin" color?

The fins on my SX-24, SX-25 and four PM-23's are not painted but neither are
they bare "natural" steel which would not be without severe rust after all
these years.
They do appear, under magnification, to have a very thin plating which may
be nickel. Several fins and bars here are showing signs of slight rust where
the plating has worn thin or has a thin scratch.
Take a fin to a plating shop and they can tell for sure.
