Hello Carl,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Indeed I will take a look at my SX-17 manual that I have left over from a '17 that I owned years ago. And yes, that is what I was "trying" to say...the SX-25 has two RF stages so this one must be an early one. Although I still do not understand why they would insert two RF coils on the broadcast band on the early version but not on the later one; but then again, no one asked me :).

As for Norm's inquiry as to why the two coils were disconnected I have no idea. I wondered if it was a botched capacitor replacement job and they were ostensibly disconnected to gain access or (GULP!) remove one of the baffles WHICH NO ONE EVER SHOULD DO. Regardless, the condition is what it is so I must press on. I am encouraged by how good the receiver sounds on Bands 2, 3/3B and even 4 although I need to experiement with adding a pad to Band 4 to get that IF tracking improved.
