[Hallicrafters] SX-24 restoration and other matters

Hmmm...from the sound of things, I better block out at least
a couple of days (weeks?) to do this job.
Looks like the first order of business is to order a full
complement of caps and resistors.
It also appears that I shouldn't bother attempting to sell this
thing on the Bay. I just watched one go for $46.00, and if I
am going to spend all the time and effort to restore this
thing, I would at least like to break even. :-)
If I am going to restore this receiver, I'll buy it from the
estate for myself.
There are also a pair (!) of SX-28s in the SK estate, which I
have not yet had a chance to even look at, let alone
evaluate.
And an early (160 meters) SX-101.
I am supposed to be selling this stuff for the "significant -
other" of the SK, and so far, the items I have sold for her
have done reasonably well.
I sold a very nice SX-100 mark 2A recently. I thought it went
a little low, $212.00, and would kind of liked to have bought
it for myself, but didn't.
I had an old Elmer who had one many years ago. His name
was Don R. Anderson, and he was a really lovely old fellow.
Very kind, and a second father to me. I can't remember his
call...K7...something.
I also brought an SX-130 to the shack to evaluate. I don't
like it very much. First of all, it has WAAAAY too much gain,
and its noisy, and a bit unstable...like all Hallicrafters'.
And why on earth Halli used ONE diode in a half-wave
rectifier for the power supply...
