Just to add my 2c worth to Glen and Charlies comments
I have also tried various spiral flourescents in my shop and home and don't
have any rfi problem with them. I even have some "dimmable" ones on an old
dimmer. Not perferct but also not a major issue.
Maybe some of my success is due to fact that all wiring is grounded variety
and goes to a good ground system. Can't hurt.
Old fluorescents with magnetic ballasts will sometimes cause a horrific buzz
in the 75m rcvr, time to re-lamp and it's gone.
The old el-cheapo ballast less fluorescents can be real bad news. I got rid
of them except for one. I use it to test new electronic designs for noise
immunity
I really like the new fluorescents with solid state ballast and T-12 lamps
instead of T-8 lamps. I highly recommend up-grading any old magnetic ballast
fixtures by replacing the ballast and lamps with new technology. Better
light output, lower energy cost, longer lamp life, and, here the utility
will pay you to do it so it's kind of a no-brainer if you can find the time
to do it yourself and don't have to pay electrician to do it. I have my
facility partially converted and anxious to get the rest done.
So, fight it if you choose, but time is coming that incandescents will be
largely phased out of existance
LED lighting, now there is an exciting product to look forward to seeing
more of.
