Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX-23 Chassis
Hi all,
Has anybody successfully removed the SX-23 chassis from its cabinet
without
using a sledge hammer or torch?
I am not seeing how it is possible to remove the chassis. There are at
least
3 obstacles. First the bandswitch. Even if you could remove the shaft,
the
bushing would not clear. Then, there are two brackets welded to the back
of
the front panel for holding a trimmer cap and a pulley. These will
prevent
you from pulling the chassis down out of the cabinet. I found the secret
screws behind the side grilles but I'm still stumped. I think that they
might have prewired the chassis, then installed it in the caninet. Then
mounted the bandswitch and wired it all up. The only option might be to
remove the wiring from the bandswitch, all 10 decks of it. After
removing
the bandswitch, you might be able to pull the chassis out the bottom
using a
small crowbar.
Tell me it isn't so.
Tony
