Good snag, Carl!
My 28A came out of CT back in December of 1997, from a ham down there.
Excellent shape, think I paid $200 or maybe $250 for it.
Definitely check out the components associated with the audio output.
The last thing you want to do is cook that transformer. If it's been
in a damp basement or stored in an unheated building, I'd suggest
baking the iron for a while before applying power.
Other than that, prepare yourself for an interesting few hours of
torment when you dig the caps out of the RF compartment. There are a
few good sites online with info, none of the procedures are easy.
But once you get it up and running well, you'll be pleased with the
smooth, bassey push/pull audio and the equally smooth flywheel tuning.
It's a real work of art, in the radio sense. Looks nice as well.

Absolutely true. The difference is in the approach. Better results are
realized when the approach is practical and resourceful, instead of
emotional/hysterical.
BTW, the 115 is a sweet rig too, looks a bit like an updated SX-28 in
layout and shape. It lacks 160 and only uses one sideband for AM. But
the SSB performance is outstanding, and it's rock-solid stable.
Accurate readout, too.
Those three rigs with slight variations (SX-28A, SX-62B) make up about
half of my Halli stable, rounded out by the R-649A, RBK-16, and a
couple others.
Good stuff!
