I'm sitting here with a chuckle in my cheeks. Back in 1965, at the Fleet
Anti-Submarine Warfare Center, SDIEGO, we had just resurrected the club
station of W6DCM "Donuts, Coffee, and Milk"... or as we called it "Dis
Carded Merchandise". Having the usual hotshot in the club who knew
EVERYTHING there was to know ABOUT everything, we set him up. Disconnected
the finals on a fellow's 20m Heath monobander (next door in a locked room),
and proceeded to call CQ into a dummy antenna (yep, they're not called Dummy
Loads), signing as 6V6GT. Said know-it-all got really excited, pushed
everybody away from the rig, and proceeded to work this "rare DX". We
waited an hour, then exposed the plot - he never lived it down.

73 DE 6V6GT... a.k.a. WØEAJ Tom
