Wow, caused a ruckus with that question... hehehe
I did build Ed's bucking transformer several years
back which made a HUGE difference on the amount of
heat generated by the SX-16. I measured the line
voltage here and it's a good solid 125v. I keep the
SX-16 in the 110v side and it's nice and cool,
relatively speaking, and a BC-348 on the 115v side.
I was just looking for some more "protection" for the
SX-16 as it's almost 70 years old. It's been
completely recapped incl/ electolytics.
In-so-far as the "warm glow", I've got all metal tubes
in mine. The rectifier from Radio Daze (with the
in-rush limiter) wouldn't look out of place. The plus
with Radio Daze rectifier is that it is a "drop-in"
replacement for the 5Z3 and needs no monkey business
done to the tube socket circuitry. I was just curious
if anybody out there had used one before... I guess
that answer was a resounding "no."
Thank-you all for the replies. This list is the best
and always has great ideas to draw from.
