Hi All,
Please park the lawnmower tomorrow, you can always decapitate those green
blades of grass another time. Join us for some vintage fun, fellowship,
facts, Ham Fest great buy fibs, helpful tips, unpublished techniques, DX
tips and who knows what else! One thing is for sure, you will learn
something, but no guarantees as to precisely what that will be!
All rigs are welcome, even if niether said rig or its operator glow in the
dark! The Halligan's Hallicrafters International Net or not, we still let
other brands of vacuum tube gear participate. However, it is truly great
listening to hear the Hallicrafters, Heathkit, Drake, Collins, Swan etc.
giants of yesteryear still blowing smoke into the Ionosphere!
The Pre-Net commences at 12:45 PM EST/EDT, (1645 UTC). The HHI Net proper
starts at 1:15 PM EST/EDT, (1715 UTC)
For those who must show up early, I am generally lurking silently from about
12:30 PM EST/EDT, 1630 UTC, in lethargic limbo musing over the various
layers of the Ionosphere and wondering why the heck there are so many of
them! So just give the old blind dude a shout and I will more than likely
let you sneak into the Shack early!
The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
what sounds like a B-52 reving up her eight powerful engines preparing to
take off on a trip through the wild blue yonder to do some scientific
testing on the health of the jet stream. Since man has invented flora and
fauna fatal Carbon compounds, Floral Carbon ..., Carbon Carbon stuff and
many more still classified so that the existence of their presence does not
elicit a stream of screams from the Green Pea Preservationists. Today's
technology has managed to darn near kill the jet stream off by polluting her
with Cows belching Methane out the end that goes Moo and Hydrogen Sulfide
out the other end that creates those lucious Cow Pies! So when one combines
the smog that hangs over LA like a gray blanket of impending death with the
fermented fog fumes from the beer factories floating above Milwaukee from
the happy Hops and bacteria converting sugar to alcohol and the automotive
and steel plants spewing stuff out their chimneys that cause happy clouds to
cry acidic rain that removes body tattoos better than plastic surgery! Now
the jet stream is what regulates the weather on this third planet from the
Sun, along with many other vital purification and restorative functions. If
we destroy it under the false pretense of plugging the leak in the Ozone
Layer, just as we have "improved" life on the planet by cutting down the
Rain Forests that provide most of the Oxygen we breathe by processing the
Carbon Dioxide that if allowed to accumulate would kill humans, well
somebody better get NASA a lot of money FAST so we can move to Mars before
this planet turns into a mass cemetary instead of the solar systems largest
landfill!
So clean up your act people! Don't let that neighbor flaunt his new SUV that
sucks down gas faster then bikers consume beer at a Hog convention! Cram an
Idaho Baker up its tailpipe! The resulting backpressure will not allow the
engine to start and the triple A tow truck will be towing the petro pig away
shortly! Hey! If we run out of fossil fuel, it won't just be gas we run out
of, but the ten thousand other items we all use daily that can not be
manufactured without those petroleum products! Everything from artificial
heart valves to children's coloring crayons to tooth paste to all kinds of
plastics ...
Remember the very Special Event on Sunday September 23rd! Dr. Max De
Henseler, HB9RS, from Switzerland will be joing us for the HHI 20 meter Net
live! This is your chance to talk to a man who is history, not that a writer
of it! I need all the relay help I can get for that day, so if you have a
directional antenna for twenty meters, and perhaps some extra "fire in the
dipole wire", please contact me!
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow. So be there, warm up those wonders that
still go glow in the dark and let's show the youngsters how a 'real' radio
works!
