[Hallicrafters] HT-44 Intermittent Keying

This morning I was going to try contacting the Hallicrafters Net on 40 
m (reception seemed to be good) but as soon as I switched from CW 
(after tuning up) to LSB my HT-44 started keying intermittently every 
two or three seconds.  I can hear a relay clicking but before I pull it 
out of the case (and disconnect all the wires) I thought I might bounce 
the problem off the forum to find out if I should be making any checks 
first or what the possible might be.  Thanks.
