[Hallicrafters] S-40a alignment

Normal practice with general coverage receivers is to
set the main dial to the high end of the band, and ADD
capacitance to the circuit with the bandspread
capacitor as you tune lower in frequency. This
includes the S-40. On receivers with uncalibrated
bandspread dials, the usual practice is "set to zero"
or minimum capacitance. Offhand I cannot think of an
example of a receiver -- especially a Halli -- that
does it the opposite way. I'd be curious to know what
the exceptions are.
