Gene Rodenberry (spelling?) had a flair for technical accuracy too.
Although his "Beam me up Scotty" device was a bit over the edge.
I remember one episode of the original Star Trek where the bridge clock was
one of those flip-number devices. Now THAT'S product longevity of
what...500 years?? I guess the set was a tad over budget that week.
Still, it was better than the cardboard "Galaxy V" spaceship on Captain
Video here in the DC area in the 50's.
Arthur Godfrey seemed to stay within reason when ever he had to use his
Collins equipment in a movie (Glass Bottom Boat).

Probably the most technically accurate movie I have seen involving
radio matter was the recently restored John Wayne "Island in the Sky".
I think such was the case because actor Andy Devine was prominent in it and
was a well known ham of the era. That always helps a bit.
