Hi Bob,
Hence just a poor selection of descriptive termonology for the radio
"package" that Bill was describing.
Thank you for the additional elaboration on the S-119K too. What follows is
quoted from Chuck Dachis book "Radios By Hallicrafters".
S-119K INCLUDE BUILT-IN SPEAKER, A FERRITE ROD ANTENNA FOR
STANDARD BROADCAST, AND A BFO. THIS RADIO IS A
"COMMEMORATIVE" UNIT CELEBRATING THE 100th MODEL PRODUCED
SINCE THE S-19 SKY BUDDY. IT WAS ALSO THE FIRST RADIO SOLD BY
THE COMPANY TO BE AVAILABLE AS A KIT (S-119K)
THE POWER SOURCE IS 120 VOLTS AC. TUBES USED: 6BE6 OSCILLATOR
& MIXER, 6BA6 I.F. & BFO, 6CM8 1st AUDIO & AUDIO OUTPUT, AND
A SILICONE DIODE POWER RECTIFIER.
THE KIT PRICE WAS 39.95, AND THE FACTORY WIRED PRICE WAS
49.95
S-120 NONE 1961-64 4 TUBES AND 4 BANDS COVERING 540KHz
TO 31MHz WITH A 455KHz I.F., FEATURES INCLUDE BAND SPREAD,
BFO, FERRITE ROD LOOP ANTENNA FOR BROADCAST BAND, REAR
MOUNTED 45" TELESCOPING WHIP ANTENNA FOR THE SHORT WAVE
BANDS, AND BUILT-IN SPEAKER. THE S-120 REPLACES THE S-38
SERIES AS THE ENTRY LEVEL SET.

OSCILLATOR & MIXER, 12BA6 I.F., 12AV6 AVC & 1st AUDIO, 50C5
