Julian,
If the wires broke at the terminals, you have hope of repairing it. If
they broke at the winding, and if any at the inner edge of the winding
broke, then you have a big problem.
Note: the trick to solder to old litz wire is to put the end of the
wire on an aspirin tablet, and apply your solder iron or pencil to the end
of the wire. Apparently the aspirin releases the varnish and allows the
solder to stick to all (normally 7) of the tiny strands of the wire.
If you start with that trick, then measure for continuity of the windings
(it looks like there may be two windings or a tapped winding) then there is
hope.
If it were my SX-28, I would have a go at it!
