Be careful turning those slugs. They can pull the tube right off the base.
Try an overnight solution of Liquid Wrench fir
st!
Drilling thru the center and inserting a jewelers screw driver for torque
has worked for me.
If those slugs are going to get destroyed and removed and you don't have
exact demensional replacements you can try this as a last ditch effort:
After the tube(s)are cleared out nicely and you have another slug but it
doesn't fit but goes into the tube, use hot candle wax to hold it in place
while you are tuning then let the stuff harden. It takes two people to do
this one. One to drip the hot candle wax in and the other to do the tuning
process and then hold the slug in place.
It takes a bit of industry to do it right but it may save an otherwise
unsavable set.
Use the same kind of slug material as the old one too.
I have a few of the larger sized slugs in my junk boxes, tell me what the
demensions are for yours and I can have a look.
Yours for the postage.
