[Hallicrafters] SX-117 - Frozen BFO internal adjustment.

I do not have an SX-117 to look at. However, is there
a locking collar on the tuning adjustment? That is
like a locking nut but is generally round with slots
on either side of the adjusting screw that require
generally a "special" tool to loosen the collar.
Until this collar is loosened you are not going to get
the adjusting screw to move at all.

The Collins PTOs have such a collar on the adjusting
coil that is used to set the "end points". They are a
real "pain in the posterior" to get loose.

The BFO slug is an adjustment through the center of
the BFO control knob shaft in my SX-117 receiver. It
appears to be frozen. I'm trying PB Blaster
penetrating catalyst (solvent) to get it freed. Is
there any experience out there who have run into the
same problem and solved it? Thanks in advance.
