The 7854 came out before the 8643 and was the original big 5894.
I remember a Motorola Tech telling me that the house branded 8643 had
something done so that it couldnt swap with a non Moto branded tube. A pin
swap maybe? Urban myth? They certainly had enough clout to do it.
