[Hallicrafters] SX-62A oddity

I decided to do an alignment on my SX-62A (mark 2) but found something
odd. There was a metal shield covering most of the IF circuitry (and a
couple of the bottom slugs I needed to adjust) that isn't shown on any
of the manuals I've got for the SX-62, -62A or -62B. The shield is
professionally made and looks like it belongs, but has to be unsoldered
(with a BIG iron) to get at these parts, which sure doesn't sound
Hallicrafters-like. Nor does is seem like something the average SWL
would do...and there are no other mods. Just wonder if anyone else has
ever run into this?
