[Hallicrafters] Investing nonsense

The World War II stuff has more than its share of
historical provenance and that is the reason for its
ballooning value.
What I can't understand, though, is why in the world
anyone would want to try to put some of the stuff on
the air; the BC-375 being a case in point. I had one
once. Chirped like a 500-pound canary (on steroids)
on CW, and on phone it had almost as much FM as AM.
(And I was running it on an original military
ground-station power supply designed for the
transmitter). The rigs have not gotten any better
with age. But people go freakin' nuts over 'em. I do
not understand it. Been there, done that, got the
shirt, and it's not worth wearin.'
But if I still had mine, with all its tuning units and
the AC supply and the shock mount and connectors, and
put it on the e-place, I could probably establish a
scholarship fund somewhere or pay for a new wing at a
hospital.
Now an ARC-5 or ART-13 is a different story. Those
are GOOD radios.
There are some Halli receivers for which I don't
understand their attraction. Most of them have less
than six tubes.
And that's all I have to say about that.
