I don't know if this will help but here's what I found.
The 3-500 is about 1/2" taller (measured from pins to top cap) and 1/10 of
an inch smaller in diameter than the 3-400
RF Parts just lists a series of three chimneys that will fit. One at 4"
(also fits 4-400) requires the socket to be mounted 1/4" below the chassis.
