Things are worth what ever some one is willing to pay. Apparently some one 
wants them that bad or it's a shill.   One or the other. But most are here 
are grousing without looking. Those tubes are not typical of 5U4s which are 
running from $9 on up. The vast majority are close to what I'd consider 
reasonable. If any item is rare and some one want's it for what ever reason 
it's going to go high, but in cases like the tubes it has little effect on 
the rest.

Hunt and you can almost always find something that is atypical.
