I believe Charlie has got a point.  The HP 8640B with options 1 and 2 will go from 445 KHz to 1.2 GHz and if you put the 11710B down converter in line, it goes down to 10 KHz.  It is rock stable, does variable frequency AM and FM, is calibrated down to less than 1/10th microvolt (set the S meter), and can be externally modulated by an audio source both AM and FM.  Modulate the box in FM mode and sweep your filter.  Also makes a good VFO for the old stuff.  Regards Jim K9AXN
