Tom,
Suggestion:
Several years ago I needed a box capable of holding a R-390a safely and
securely. I found a local company that makes boxes. They made me boxes to
order, a minimum order of three per measurements.
The burst strength is 275PSI, walls are double layered and 3/8 thick,
corregated and so forth. The price was $57 total, or $19 per box. Thsi may
soun dhigh, but the end result was a box more than capable of holding the
weight of the R-390a for shipping across the country, as well as being
capable of being saved and used again.
The construction of these boxes was nothing like the kind you can purchase
at Staples or Office Max! This box was strong and durable in every sense of
the term. Absolutely no need to double box, as it was far stronger than two
boxes already!
If you have heavy or high value objects to ship, I highly recommend this
approach! Anyone who spends hundreds of dollars to buy an item and then
complains about having to pay $25 for good packing materials to protect the
item, in my opinion, is foolish.
It worked for me, hope it works for you also.
