[Hallicrafters] old radios in the movies

Hi Bill,

Instead of concluding that the studio heads figured that the public on the
whole would never notice it was a receiver with a hand mike plugged into the
external speaker jack, suppose they were playing it safe? There were no
antennas connected, so transmitting accidentally could result in damage to
the borrowed prop. Additionally, suppose the curiosity of stage hands or the
actors or actresses, or those who had one too many beverages for lunch, got
the better of their adherence to the "do not touch the props" policy? They
illegally operate a transmitter, interfere with local air traffic and ...
studio has a big lawsuit to help overcome the cities budget deficit! Thus, a
receiver is safe. Not even the studio executives, most of whom need a Guide
Dog to find their way home after a days work of TV series or movie
production, to keep them from falling into open man holes with missing
covers. Since doing so would awaken the sleeping city workers collecting
overtime, actually down there repairing the clogged document and contract
shredder disposal pipe! Not even these executives could screw up and
transmit with a receiver.

Is anyone out there putting together a list of all the product names and
model numbers for the various receivers, transmitters and transceivers seen
on the silver screen? Maybe the television screen also? If so, who is it?

Nice work there William! Can you tell us Bill, did Clark Kent wear briefs or
boxers?
