The last Compact I had was laughingly called a portable with built in dual 5 
1/4" floppies and a tiny little screen.  It came with a handle, but needed 
wheels. Or maybe that was something else.

I'd think that would be limited more by the internet connection than CPU 
speed.

Digests? I haven't seen a digest type response in many months.

I'm not so sure. I leave the rig in the shop on W1AW while working out 
there. I'm trying to get my speed back up.  Actually the rig is on CW while 
the computer is spouting Japanese (Nehongo).  High speed CW is by far the 
easiest of the two, but I did have to learn how to spell again once I 
reached word sounds.
