I worked for B-A from 12/71 until 10/79.  Chief Tech for the Pro Industrial Div (pro video & audio, + 2-way radio), then Denver Regional Svc. Mgr.  I grew up DIGESTING their catalogs, along with Allied, Lafayette, Newark, Heath, & EICO.  I still have a few B-A things around here, including my collection of catalogs from 1964 to the very end.  Also have a 1936, which is just astounding - very few "ready made" stuff, mostly parts with which to "roll your own".  

My buddy and I would take the bus or 'streetcar' downtown and almost need a drool-cup.  They'd loan you a set of headphones (those old hard trimm units), so you could try out all the receivers... Oh God... being 13 and actually TOUCHING an HRO!  It's sad to note that the original B-A building at 1012 McGee St. in Kansas City has NEVER been rented again, since we closed the doors in about 1977.  I was one of two guys who were the last ones in the building - oh, if it could talk.
