As I’ve said before I’ve lost most of what I once knew about radio electronics so here’s a couple of questions.

I have started to align my sx101 mkIII and ‘am stumped on the first step. First thing is that when I attach the dc vtvm probe to point B do I also attach the other wire from the vtvm to the chassis? Because if I do it kills the signal from the signal generator. Secondly, it says to maintain 1 volt on the vtvm when adjusting t1, t2, t3, & t4 but not what to adjust to maintain this one volt. 

In step it says to tune the generator through 1650 kc to determine the IF passband and then to center it in the passband. Do I do this by recording the limits of the passband and then just center it in the passband and how do I hear the passband when I have disconnected the speaker and attached 500 ohm resistance in its place?
