Ralph,

Thanks. I'd like a scanned copy, too. Thanks much.

That article has special interest for me: I happened to find a copy of the
October, '44 QST and bought it because it's my birth month. (I also have a
National Geographic, and a Life magazine.) Previously, I'd known bout the
SX-28 but thought it was too old and likely too much trouble to restore for
me to put it very high on my want list.

Then I read that article. It tells about the DF capability at those
stations located waaaay out in the boonies in Alaska and the Aleutians, the
Babcock rotatable antennas, and shows the SX-28's in use. That did it. I
just had to have one. Since then, I've acquired two SX-28's, one early and
one A version. Neither have had their overhaul, but I have collected the
needed replacement bottom panel for one, and I think I have a working
S-meter to replace the ordinary panel meter kludged in and mounted upside
down in one receiver.

Sooo.. eventually, I'll overhaul at least one of these, and most likely put
the thing in my living room for occasional SWL-ing and to help bring up our
four-year old properly. (She's already taken a liking to the 75-4 in the
radio room.)
