First of all, I want to thank you, Bill, and Don for making this information
available. The info contained therein also can be used with many other
receivers which never originally came with "S" meters.
However, on page two, in the part detailing how to set the zero of the
meter used, this information does NOT make clear that a NORMAL
meter MUST be mounted upside down in order for these directions to
make sense.
For instance, the bulletin says, under "Mechanical Zero Set:" with the
receiver OFF, using the pointer adjustment screw, set the needle on the
last calibration mark on the RIGHT of the meter.
This can only be true if a NORMAL meter is upside down, or you have a
reverse-calibrated meter mounted right-side up. I.e, one in which zero
is all the way to the right, and the meter reads "down" with increasing
current.
Then the bulletin says, under "Electrical Zero ser" (sic.) to, among other
things, set the meter pointer all the way to the LEFT with the zero-set
pot. With no signal, this would be the point at which the RF or IF stage
has the highest current flowing.
