If you MUST do a solid state sub. for the 5Y3, don't forget to put a 47-150 ohm 1 watt resistor in
series with each anode lead.  This will help save the power transformer if the diodes should ever
short.  Also easier on the filter caps as well during warmup!

| One more step is useful after the above.  Un-solder the two 5v filament
| leads from the rectifier socket and tape them off.  This reduces the chance
| for a HV to filament winding short, which is generally fatal to the
| transformer.  Many 32V series exciter owners have learned this the hard way
| with the low voltage B+ supply.
