I've re-capped the whole unit's paper/wax capacitors, and a few

I'm in touch with Gary ... this is quite a time consuming task, and 
consequently not exactly

Yes, 6V6s. Apparently the sound quality is excellent, so I want to 
replace the transformer with something
decent, to avoid losing the fidelity.
