John,
I've heard your argument re: payment method "safety" also in regard to
paying thru the mail with a P.O. money order, calling it mail fraud &
getting help. I've heard very little, if any, substantiation to the
claims of getting reimbursed, on any of the methods. Once you've paid the
$ it's awful tough to get it back. It seems that you have to PROVE
'substantial' $$ loss by fraud to get anything back thru Paypal, ebay,
credit cards, USPO, etc.
Fortunately I haven't had to resort to trying those avenues.
Your ebay seller example is evidence that there are still honest folks
out there, besides you and me ;-) Hope to see you at Shelby agn next yr.

Al, W8UT

Here is an excellent reason to pay by Pay Pal or credit card. You can
get some, if not all of your money back in case of fraud, but you will
loose the shipping charge in moth directions. Then again, forewarned is
forearmed in the case of known fraudsters.
I recently bid on a scope and the seller subsequently found out that it
had no trace. (He was one of those folks who didn't know anything about
scopes) In any event, he posted a note to his listing stating that
there was no trace and that any bidders were welcome to back out if they
wished. In addition to that, I received an individual email from him
stating the same facts and giving me the option to cancel my bid. We
need more folks like that!
73 and caviet emptor.
John, W4AWM
