Hi Glen,

Thanks for your reply - the gazillion screws aside, this one also 
needed  penetrating oil, vise-grips, wrenches, a prybar and a 12" long 
drill bit to drill out ALL of the bristol setscrews in order to get the 
knobs off!  After I twisted my little L-shaped bristol wrench until it 
looked like a barberpole, I knew they would never come out the normal 
way.  But despite fretting corrosion I managed to get them all off in 
good shape and I think this transmitter is rare enough to warrant the 
effort to restore it.

My question is - how would you describe the chassis finish?  I't's 
plated,  but between the rust spots and the normal corrosion these rigs 
with perforated covers always seem to end up with, it's hard to tell 
whether it's the usual (typically zinc) plating or something shinier.

I was also going to ask whether all the shielding was standard equipment 
but I think you have already answered that!
