It's all Crayola's fault for removing the 'flesh' colored crayon! They

Just to add assurance to the issue of matching paint, even the
venerable old Collins A-Line suffered from some variations. You can
actually see this in some of their old ads, the 75A-1 comes to mind.
Cabinet looks darker than the front panel. And the new St James Gray
that Howard Mills' painter uses looks black in comparison. Does come
very close to the shade of the big transmitters like the KW-1 or 30K,
but is much darker than the 32Vs or 75A receivers. Howard matched the
paint by removing the escutcheon and using the paint beneath it that
hadn't been exposed to decades of UV light, polluted air, or whatever
else makes paint change color.

So I think getting 'really close' is as good as being 'exact', since
they appear to be one and the same depending on the batch of paint,
who shot the work, the day of the week, etc.
