Also on the modulator chassis, the mic connector hooks up to the
modulator by an RCA jack.
That’s how I hook mine up.....i do not use the front connector at all

"MP2HK 80-MC2M 2 pin (m) plug (Heathkit)"  $5.00

I think $5 is not going to create sticker shock. (If you want sticker 
shock, get a quote for the special order UG-970 adapter for the R-390 
receiver antenna connection.)
