[Hallicrafters] Voltage questions

My line voltage here in Dallas is about 125. I see that most of the 
Halicrafters equipment was designed for an input voltage less than that. Do 
most of you reduce your input voltage in one way or another?

Secondly, does a variable transformer serve the same purpose as an isolation 
transformer with the added ability to adjust input voltage?

Has anyone reduced the main voltage to their entire radio room in some way?
