OK....we returned home yesterday after the hurricane here (Wilmington, NC)
and today we started testing 12AT7 tubes along with 12AU7's and 12AX7's.
Pulled a pair of 12AT7's out of my regenerative receivers, the Space Spanner
and the Explor-air and put them in the HT37....lo and behold I can now null
the carrier with both controls!!
Tried another pair of 12AT7's with no joy....full carrier when going to MOX.
The readings noted on my B&K747B tube tester were all very similiar for the
12AT7's.......I can't figure out why this pair of 12AT7 tubes worked as
compared to the others but I ain't complaining (grin)
OK....next step is to order some NOS 12AT7's and give them a try.
Now to check the sideband suppression......rig is getting pretty close to
putting on the air.....with my Drake 2B it should be a fun vintage station
and I can then check into the Hallicrafters net with a "real" rig (grin)
Many thanks to all of those who provided wonderful and helpful suggestions
on how to get this boat anchor flying....it was a lot of work and
frustration but is now pretty much done.
Meet you on the air soon.
73, Joe W2KJ
