[Hallicrafters] SX-25 metal tuning dial bezel

My SX-25 has a stamped metal bezel. It is painted
black, as original. I have never seen any other type,
nor any other color, unless someone painted it. This
was apparently a not-uncommon practice, but "why" is
unknown. I have seen some pretty bizarre colors and
it would not be hard to imagine one being painted
silver.

I'll bet you'll find a base coat of black if you
scratch its surface. Or, check the inside surface.
If it is chrome-plated (I think that's unlikely), any
plating on the inside will likely be uneven. More
probably all you'll find is paint overspray or runs.

The S-20R has a similar bezel, but these, as original,
were either the same gray as the cabimet, or a
slightly darker blue-gray (again, I have seen some
weird repaints). Those on the S-22R are black
wrinkle. The SX-24, S-27 and S-36 have black bexels
very similar to those on the 24/25.

Hope this helps.
