[Hallicrafters] Tube lugs fragile?

OK folks...I know I'm swimming upstream here...
I've restored many dozens of Hallicrafters and I always strip the wires completely off the tube terminals before adding a new component such as a capacitor. I just make sure there is no solder left on the connection (I use a HAKKO desoldering unit, but I've done the same with the metal tape or a plastic suction). I do not try "unbending" the connection. Using high quality "nippers" such as an Erem, I carefully clip the old wires away from the terminal and the wires usually fall off the terminal.
I have to say that I have NEVER had a single lug seriously damaged, break or fall off. I have replaced the lugs for other reasons (a simple task with the old sockets).
Maybe I'm just the luckiest guy around, since everyone warns about damaging the tube lugs/terminals, if one tries to remove the original wires. But if done this way, it sure is an "original looking" non-cluttered connection when done.
