Hello Fred,
Although I have not tried the product you suggested, I have used Auto
Body Filler. It oozes through the surrounding holes for a permanent
bond, is easy to sand smooth, easy to drill, and paints like the
original metal. You can sand the underside to a point where it's
almost unnoticeable, after drilling. Personally I think a flaw or two
adds to the character of an old piece of gear, especially if it's a
user. This ain't no Garden Party, keep the suggestions coming. Best
