Thanks for all the info on the S-38E MKII.  After receiving a good readable
schematic of the radio I was left scratching my head even more than before.

There are so many differences from what I have vs the schematic supplied,
that I have decided to just close it up and leave it as is.  It works fine
receiving, however, the BFO refuses to function.  That's what I was trying
to get to work.

I found at least 5 differences (major) in my radio than what is in the
schematic.  Caps missing or connected differently, component values not the
same as the schematic, components that should be connected to the chassis
(ground) but aren't etc and it is all original.  How it works so well is
beyond me.

For instance, I found (5) individual components (choke, caps and resistors)
in the radio that the schematic shows connected to the chassis.  These (5)
components are all tied together as they should on one end as they would be
if connected to the chassis but there is no connection to the chassis as
verified visually and with an ohm meter.  But, it works?????????  Go figure.

So, while it works, I will button it up and go to the next project.
