A good way to use bypass caps (other than leaving them in the parts cabinet 
or at the suppliers place) is to put one from line to line (Hot to Neutral) 
and one from Neutral to Chassis Ground.

This way, the situation is safer in the case of any cap shorting: the line 
to line one will blow the circuit breaker or fuse, and the neutral to 
chassis one can short with almost no effect at all.
