This is one of those cases where a minute grain of truth attains the
status of a plague.
I have witnessed cases of personnel wearing metal frame eyeglasses
getting RF "burns" when in close proximity (ignoring the posted warning
signs) to radiating 800 MHz antenna systems. No permanent damage.
In my previous incarnation as EMI guru for a large hospital I had cause
to investigate many similar reports. To date, in study after study both
in the U.S. and abroad, to my knowledge, no clinical data has been found
to substantiate Thomas' assertions.
