[Hallicrafters] SX-101A problem

Last night I was working my SX101A on 80 meters, with no problem.  I 
switched to 40 meters just to listen, and the receiver was quiet.  No 
noise on other bands either (although theey are not active at that time 
in the night)  Since I use this receiver on 80 meters most of the time, 
I moved the band selection switch back and forth to remove any oxides 
that may have formed, but this had no effect.  If I momentarily 
switched the receiver off then on again, 40 meters, 20 meters, etc 
would function.  80 meters always functions OK

Any ideas?
