[Hallicrafters] SX42 up in smoke

i was getting ready to  recap my sx 42  and figured i would listen to it for 
a while while i got everything together . i  am a novice working on these 
radios but i know enough to know what not to do .   as the radio was playing  
great have never had a problem out of it ever i knew it needed to be recapped  
still is 100%origional  .

 than there was a crack from the speaker then no audio  so i ran over to 
radio and saw smoke coming out of the top to my horror .i immediately unplugged it 
.  so i pulled out chassis and started to do a visual  inspection  and to my 
surprise i saw nothing that appeared burnt from the area where smoke came from 
 right around audi transformer. 

 so i made a few checks plugged it back in turned it on knowing it was 
nothing in the power supply or transformer . now i have very very  weak audio  and 
hardly any voltage at the speaker terminals but i do have B+ at both 6v6 tubes 
.i am hoping it is not my audio transformer  but that is what i am thinking 
what is the best way to check it and if it is bad would anyone have a 
transformer  for sale or tell me where to get one .  

thanks to your replies   i am not going to be able to sleep tonight with the 
image of the smoke coming out of the top of it
