[Hallicrafters] Knob Insert Removal

It depends on whether or not you are trying not to
destroy the insert. If you don't care, then drill a
hole near the center and use a small screwdriver to
pry it out. If you are trying to save the insert and
not the knob then use needle nose pliers and break
away the side of the knob.

If you are trying to save both the knob and the insert
sometimes freezing the knob for a couple of hours will
loosen the glue that often holds the insert in place.
If no glue, then freezing will sometimes cause the
insert to "shrink" slightly and you can carefully
remove it with something thin like a #11 Xacto knife
blade.
